The Croatian Highways Company (HAC) warned on Sunday that one of the busiest weekends of the year is expected from July 4 to 7, due to a huge concert by popular Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson in Zagreb.

Toll gate Lučko

If you are traveling to or from Croatia this weekend and have to pass through the capital, the dreaded Lučko toll gate, you will most likely encounter major traffic complications. There is a concert in Zagreb for 500,000 visitors.

In this regard, the Croatian Highways (HAC) company warned on Sunday that one of the busiest weekends of the year is expected from July 4 to 7, due to a huge concert by popular Croatian singer Marko Perković Thompson in Zagreb. More than half a million visitors are expected to attend the concert. It should be added that this will also be the first major tourist weekend with the arrival and departure of many foreign tourists.

Due to the capacity of main roads and sensitive points , such as the Zagreb bypass and the A1, A3 and A6 motorways, long delays and queues are possible, especially in the event of traffic accidents, HAC said in an emergency announcement on Sunday.

This weekend you can expect extremely heavy traffic on all highways and the Zagreb bypass, possible restrictions and special traffic regulations in the entry zones to Zagreb, as well as an increased risk of major delays in the event of traffic accidents and other emergencies. In many places you can expect "prometna župa", as Croatians call traffic jams.

HAC will therefore activate additional patrol and intervention teams next weekend, including contractual partners of the towing service, technical services and call center, to respond in a timely manner to any emergencies and ensure the smooth flow of vehicles. The goal is to ensure maximum smoothness and safety of traffic on all key routes.

Drivers are advised to plan their journey one or more days earlier or later, use alternative routes recommended by HAC, regularly monitor road conditions, have online navigation turned on, have enough fuel in the tank and drinks for themselves in the car. Also, in the event of traffic jams, remain calm and follow the instructions of the services.

HAC emphasizes that it is necessary to enable emergency vehicles, police and firefighters to reach the scene of a traffic accident and the injured as quickly as possible and provide them with medical assistance. The emergency corridor is designed so that vehicles in the right lane move to the right and vehicles in the left lane move to the left. Drivers should maintain a distance between vehicles in order to react in time and prevent an incident, HAC says.

The concert of the popular Croatian singer will take place on Saturday, July 5th at the Zagreb Hippodrome. It is a huge event for Croatia, a major event, with half a million visitors expected. Fans will travel to the concert from all corners of Croatia, as well as from other countries.

Our blog has all the important numbers in case you get into unexpected trouble.

We recommend that all drivers avoid the mentioned date when traveling towards Zagreb, and if you have to, you can follow the events at the mentioned toll booth HERE , or directly on the HAK (Croatian Automobile Club) website.

We wish everyone a safe journey and, if you are traveling during this period, stay strong!
